Galaxy Elementary is the first LEED Platinum School in South Florida and is currently the feature project of The School District of Palm Beach Countyand was recently named Best Elementary School in Florida at the FEFPA conference.
The design intent was to create a campus that captured the natural environment. The original site had very large oak trees that either remained in place or were relocated on site. New oak trees in varying sizes were added to depict the cycle of trees. The remaining plant material is mostly native.
The principal envisioned every space as a teaching space so we incorporated a butterfly garden, a native garden, a student vegetable planting space with a cistern for watering and a green roof with a classroom space. All of these spaces are adjacent to the school building for quick and easy access.

Moore Park is a design build project with a LEED Silver requirement in a disadvantaged neighborhood within the city limits of Miami. One of the main goals was to keep or relocate all of the large existing trees on site. This proved to be a challenge, but working closely with the design team and the general contractor, we were able to achieve what we set out to do.
The project consisted of a community center and a day care center. We were given the task of unifying the park with these new buildings, the existing Orange Bowl football/track field and the existing tennis center. We designed plazas, walkways and planting with color, pattern and texture to unify all of the buildings.
